2-step, in short

03 / FAQ
What is a 2-step secondary rev limiter?

A second rev limit below your redline. Choose M1/M2 buttons with a separate RPM for each, or brake + gas pedal with one 2-step RPM. We also support aftermarket sport steering wheels with M1/M2 buttons. Optional RES +/− RPM selection is available on compatible ECU software; we confirm your setup before building.

Does it work on my BMW?

We work on almost all petrol BMW engines. Our coverage spans the N, B and S families. Include your model, year and current software when ordering.

How fast is delivery?

Your file is delivered within 5 hours of payment.

What do I need for it?

An existing Bootmod3 or MHD licence for your car, or a bench tool such as KESS3, AutoTuner, FLEX or PCMFlash. If you have neither, we remote flash your car for 100 USD, charged separately and arranged with you before payment.

How is it delivered?

Worldwide through Bootmod3, MHD or files for compatible ECU tools such as PCMFlash, KESS3, AutoTuner and FLEX. Choose your platform when you start your request.

Can I use PCMFlash, KESS3, AutoTuner or FLEX?

Tell us which tool you use, your ECU/DME and whether the file was read by OBD, bench or boot. Upload your file with the order so we can check the exact software. Our upload form takes unencrypted BIN or MPC files, meaning the plain read from your tool rather than a tool-locked export.

Can I keep my current tune, and go back to stock?

Yes. Our file is a map like any other you receive from a tuner. Add it in Bootmod3 or MHD, or flash it with your ECU tool, exactly as you would any other map. Switching between maps and returning to stock work the same as before. We change nothing about how your platform or car behaves beyond the feature you ordered.

How often, and for how long, can I use the 2-step?

Hold it for 1 to 3 seconds per launch. Like everything on a turbo engine, use it in moderation. Holding the launch limiter builds heat and pressure in the turbo, and excessive use can damage it, especially a small or already stressed turbo. Treat it as a launch tool, not something to sit on.

Who flashes it, and what if I get stuck?

Flash through Bootmod3 or MHD, have your tuner write the file with a compatible ECU tool, or book our remote flash. We supply the file and instructions for your setup. If you get stuck, contact us and we help.

What does it cost?

$200 USD for a standard 2-step. Remote flashing, if you need it, is 100 USD extra. Prices are in USD; card availability depends on your country and bank; currency conversion fees may apply. Any applicable tax is shown at checkout. Stage builds and bespoke ECU ROM work are quoted per car.

What is your refund policy?

If we cannot build a working file for your car, we refund your payment in full. For other refund or cancellation requests, contact us. Your statutory rights are not affected. Full details are in our terms.
